Subject: Re: [rda-cop] CoP Framework Document – Next / Final Steps
    Dear all,
Alas, I will have to send my apologies for today’s meeting. There is a schedule conflict that I cannot resolve.
Overall, I think the document is covering the major aspects. I do, however, believe that we would still need to provide more arguments to the RDA community on why we proceed with this new body. The RDA landscape is already quite complicated for many, and introducing another structure might confuse people even further. I would argue that the CoPs could actually help better organise the current ecosystem of groups, by providing a more systematic approach to their organisation (at least for those that are linked with disciplinary/domain issues). Maybe this is a point we could also add in the text.
Ideally, I would see a bullet point list of benefits from the operation of the new structure. The arguments are scattered across the document, but bringing them together in one list could help articulate the expected added value of the operation of CoPs to the RDA community.
    Kind regards,
    Dimitris

    Dear all
The Framework Document is now ready for your final viewing before our meeting on 14th September. Could you please read through the document, check the revisions and resolve any comments (or leave to discuss, as appropriate)?
Our revised suggested timeline for the final steps of the document is as follows:
    · 14 Sept meeting with TF to resolve document
    · 14 Sept send document to Council, TAB & OA
    · 15 – 27 Sept Council, TAB & OA review and feedback period
    · 28-30 Sept Secretariat (and TF if necessary) incorporate feedback
    · 1-15 Oct RDA community consultation
    · 16-30 Oct TF Assessment feedback
    · From November (if positive) set up CoP formally
The agenda for next week’s meeting:
    1. Resolution of open comments and discussion points
    2. Agreement on timing of next steps and stakeholders involved
    3. Format for community consultation (so we have ample time to prepare while Council review is taking place)
    4. AOB
    Many thanks,
    Best wishes

Thanks for pointing this problem out.
Somehow it seems also to be connected to the groupdetails page at
    https://www.rd-alliance.org/groupdetails
For the Research Data Collections WG the entries are there in both the groupdetails
    page and at https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/research-data-provenance.html ,
and not for Research Data Provenance, see attached image.
The interesting entries „,,,“ and „,“ in the chairs column
show definitely a technical glitch: the commas are blend in as separators of
the co-chairs if you are logged in; if you are not logged in, you don’t see the co-chairs,
    just the commas.

Thank you very much, this is very useful. I did not know the page looked like this

I am not sure why the missing information would only be visible to group members –
in my opinion, all of this could be visible to anybody, though only member should be able to send
an email to the group list.
The group chairs might be missing, however, because I have entered them as user ids instead of free text fields

    Dear all,
I had an email conversation with Nick Car, co-chair of the Research Data Provenance IG, which brought up another small, but annoying issue.
At the moment, if you are not logged in to the RDA Web site, some information on a group’s page looks like it is missing: there are fields such as “Secretariat Liaison”, or “group email” that appear empty, because the information is not displayed until the user is logged in to the RDA Web site. Apart from the fact that some of this information should be visible anyway, this is a small example of the transparency / openness issue at the operational level. In this case, rather than hiding the fields completely if the user can’t view them, it may be useful to provide some explanation, e.g. “group email: you need to be logged in to view this”
    Cheers,
    Stefanie

    Dear All,
In our last GoTo meeting we decided to draft a a first proposal
for Transparency and Openness which will be circulated via email
    for discussion.
Would it be possible for those who are interested to meet this
evening during the poster session, Monday 12 Sept, 18:00?
If yes I will try to organize a room.

    Dear All,
A bit delayed the notes from our last virtual meeting, also on our wiki.
I have created 2 new wiki pages for our
    ACTION List at https://www.rd-alliance.org/group/council-operations-and-coordination-su
    ISSUE List at https://www.rd-alliance.org/group/council-operations-and-coordination-su
Also we decided to draft a first proposal for Transparency and Openness here in Denver.
We haven’t decided on a date and location yet.
    Cheers
