The Research Data Alliance (RDA) is an open infrastructure in the SCOSS 5th funding cycle.
About SCOSS
The Global Sustainability Coalition for Open Science Services (SCOSS) is a network of influential organisations committed to helping secure Open Access (OA) and Open Science (OS) infrastructure well into the future. Officially formed in early 2017, SCOSS’s purpose is to provide a co-ordinated cost-sharing framework that will ultimately enable the broader OA and OS community to support the non-commercial services on which it depends.
The RDA’s Funding Appeal
The overarching goal of the RDA SCOSS funding appeal is to enable best practice research data management across the globe and support effective implementation of OS practices and principles.
SCOSS pledgers help us do this by:
- Supporting the creation of global standards to enable FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) research outputs
- Building research data management capacity and capability with stakeholders in the Global South.
Hilary Hanahoe – RDA Secretary General“This is an incredible opportunity for the RDA to offer increased impact and support for the global RDA community of over 14,000 data experts from over 151 countries. This international network of passionate, committed and volunteer individuals are building the social and technical bridges to share and reuse research data and the RDA wants to support their results and outputs to become much needed global data standards in support of Open Science. At the same time, we want to make sure that all data experts are aware of and involved in RDA, So part of our appeal is to seek support to build community and capacity in the Global South.”
