Participation of students and early career professionals is tremendously important to RDA. Not only does the RDA benefit greatly from this diversified and inter-generational community, but engagement with data communities throughout the world also affords this next generation of leadership the opportunity to obtain expertise regarding data infrastructure while becoming well-connected.
The RDA offers various opportunities that engage and support early career researchers and professionals, including:
- Plenary travel support
- CODATA/RDA Schools for Research Data Science – provides training in data science for early career researchers from lower and middle income countries
- Early Career and Engagement Interest Group (ECEIG) – provides a focal point for early career researchers and professionals
- Networking opportunities at RDA Plenaries (e.g., Social Events) and mentoring from senior RDA members in between plenaries (e.g., Ask Me Anything sessions online)
