Elise DunhamMemberHi everyone,
For what it’s worth from a records management perspective, I think this is going in a smart direction: making a distinction between an internal site and a public-facing site. I agree that there should be a simple policy for managing access to documents on the intranet and there should be one to clarify what goes on the intranet, public site, and the repository. This is something Stefanie and I have already started to discuss, and moving forward with the knowledge that the OCC is moving toward the internal site solution will help frame that discussion.
I’m not sure how RDA is handling roles in Drupal right now, but the simplest way to manage permissions in both the internal and public-facing site would be to clarify, as Leif said, which roles can see what, and manage individual access via role assignments. This might be too detailed to be discussing right now, so if there’s someone I could talk to more about this permissions management stuff, please let me know!
Best,
Elise

Hi,
I am fine with the text apart from the goverance.rd-alliance.org! I guess you mean governance.rd-alliance.org? However, I also think that a simple policy need to be applied for that site as we don’t want to get into the same discussion again in 6 months time. Council can see everything but TAB can not see the Council space? This needs to be clarified!

I think either governance or intranet are fine, as would be internal. The only comment is that this name will be known and it should be as neutral sounding as possible, e.g., not ‘elite’ or ‘keep out’ or anything that sounds like that.

A quick correction to my previous message: the time of our meeting in Denver is actually 15:30-17:00 on Friday, 16 September (Session 6 in the program). I apologize for any confusion, and thanks to Amy Nurnberger for bringing the error to my attention!

Subject: Opportunity to participate at P8 and 23 August telco minutes
Hello everyone,
We had a productive discussion about potential IG projects at our IG telcon on 23 August and we’re following up today with a request for participation at our meeting at RDA Plenary 8 in Denver:
Call for participation: Act fast before Denver!
We would like to invite IG members to submit “project pitches” for community discussion at our IG meeting in Denver (Fri 9/16 12:20-15:00). There are a number of areas our IG could focus on developing guidance documents about-appraising research data? physical data rescue? digital preservation? what else? The speaker will introduce the topic and perceived need. After these presentations, we will break into small groups focused around selected topics to discuss how we might address them as a community. Presentations would be brief 2-3 minute pitches, no slides needed. If you are interested in contributing a topic, please sign up here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dstt_cq97xmYOJQcKUFqtCvMBnmsoBkLBfUE…
