Andrew TreloarMemberThanks for the explanation – sorry not to be able to join the Hackathon (I
am at another meeting that week). Looks like a great agenda – I look
forward to hearing how it went!

Andrew TreloarMemberRebecca,
thanks for all you are doing to keep this meeting going ahead in the face
of the shutdown.
Thanks also for the agenda. I’ve now reviewed it and think I probably won’t
attend remotely on days 2 or 3. They start at 0100 for me. I will attend on
Day 1, though.
Look forward to joining you all then. -
Andrew TreloarMemberSara,
thanks. My ranking is this:
1. Improved internal website search and mining functionalities via
integration with Apache Solr Search Server – *I take the liberty to
consider this**important from your perspective and of high priority, given
the discussi**ons in the last days*
4. Single-sign-on (e.g. with Openid Connect) – *the idea is to make RDA
website a central domain through which authentication is performed, to
allow session’s sharing with other domains*
2. An online catalogue of all RDA-related materials and publications with
filters
3. A Dynamic RDA Recommendation & Outputs Catalogue [you can see an example
here https://atmosphere.copernicus.eu/catalogue#/%5D

Andrew TreloarMemberDear Sara,
thanks for pulling this together. I will review over the next couple of
days.
Can I gently push back on your statement that “Despite we understand the
urgent need of an improved search facility, we believe that it has no sense
to implement it before the improved user profilying and metadata schema are
in place”?
It’s not necessary to do implement improved search in a single step. It
would already be a great improvement if the search was enhanced to index
and search across the *contents* of common file formats (even just
Microsoft Office and PDF). This could be done as a quick win, and the more
sophisticated options you mention could then be done later.
I strongly encourage your team to consider whether such a two phase
approach would be possible.
Thanks,
Andrew.

Andrew TreloarMemberHelena,
thanks for this.
I noted that there was some discussion at the end of the session about
whether the focus should be on assessing fitness of the data (done by the
data custodians) or providing information to help with assessment of the
fitness (done, variously, by data users).
Will these ideas be fed into the workplans of the group?

Andrew TreloarMemberIf it excited no added discussion, don’t you at least want to get
endorsement of some kind from the WG/IG chairs as a whole? Otherwise it is
just a thing that came out of a meeting of a subset of the chairs… -
Andrew TreloarMemberThanks for doing this – who makes the decision to move it on to the next
step and when is this likely to occur? I’d like Council to get it (if this
is the decision) in time for its meeting before P10. -
