Brief introduction describing the activities and scope of the group
Three materials focused groups (IG, WG, and TG) are jointly contributing to the session with one co-chair needing to leave on 10/25 and another co-chair participating remotely in the ET time zone.
The Materials Data, Infrastructure, & Interoperability (MDII) was founded in 2013 and aims to foster exchange of computational & experimental materials data through shared online repositories, standardized formats/terminologies & open programming interfaces.
The International Materials Resource Registries Working Group focused on developing the metadata standards required to establish a network of IMRRs in key sub-domains and regions.
The Materials Ontology Task Group is part of the focus of the Materials Data Interest Group and concentrates on upper level ontology use/best practices/issues for materials as demonstrated in existing domain ontologies.

30Group chair serving as contact person
Laura BartoloI declare that I have informed the chairs of all the Working / Interest groups included in this joint meeting application.
AcknowledgedMeeting objectives
1. Discuss final report of International Materials Resource Registries (IMRR) WG being submitted and explore possibility of establishing itself as TG
2. Present update of Task Group on Materials Ontologies
3. Present, with a panel discussion, and general discussion of RDA recommendations/outputs for adoption by Materials Data IG
