Hi RDA Provenance IG and Aust. Research Data Prov. Group,
Just a note from the RDA’s Provenance Patterns WG that is consuming all of my, Davie Dubin and Paolo Missier’s group time!
WG Charter
We are sticking to a Charter that we wrote for the WG which you can see here: https://github.com/RDAProvIG/WGplanning/blob/master/CaseContent/Charter.md. From the Charter, our main work items are:
1. Common provenance Use Cases
2. Provenance design patterns
3. Sharing provenance
4. Strategies for enterprise provenance management
5. Tools for provenance
6. Provenance data collections
WG Work
To see what the Working Group is working on at any time, see the minutes and action items here: https://github.com/RDAProvPatWG/minutes. The Action Items are captures as GitHub Issues: https://github.com/RDAProvPatWG/minutes/issues
Provenance Patterns
Something that is likely to be of great interest to you all is current work on associating items in catalogues with Semantic Web-style provenance systems. The WG is currently establishing patterns (best practice guidelines) for this. So far we have 3 in this space:
* http://patterns.promsns.org/pattern/12 – Associating document metadata with graph provenance
* http://patterns.promsns.org/pattern/25 – Associating ISO19115-1 items with a provenance query service
* http://patterns.promsns.org/pattern/26 – Associating ISO19115-1 items with a provenance query service #2
All patterns: http://patterns.promsns.org/patterns
We are now asking for comments on those patterns so if you would like anything considered or changed, please just let the WG know on ***@***.***-groups.org. Please also feel free to communicate the WG’s work with anyone interested!
Regards,
Nick
