Dear ETHRD-IG members,
It was great to see everyone who made it to Helsinki to attend Plenary 14.
This was a wonderful event, and it was a delight to see you.
A few points of action coming out of that meeting:
1) Here is where you find all of the presentations and the notes:

2) Co-chair election. It is time to elect a new co-chair, and the process
was supposed to start at the end of the plenary, but I didn’t send everyone
the email then, so it is starting now. Important links and dates:
Nomination process: https://tinyurl.com/y42muyfr
Dates:
– Nomination period starts now (22Nov) and closes 6Dec.
Submit nominations here: https://forms.gle/G9RgqBkdBnejLS9m7
– Statements and endorsements due 20Dec.
Nominee statements: https://goo.gl/forms/jKyArLFK9QgjGfPC2
Endorsements: https://goo.gl/forms/fYfCHBlHGaHAtIeD2
If you have an interest in the work of this group, I strongly encourage you
to nominate yourself! If you have any questions, please let me, or one of
the other ETHRD-IG co-chairs know. (Rob Quick or Laura Molloy).
3) Two work areas were discussed and signed up to (see below). If someone
would like to step in and start organizing this work, that would be great!
I’ve started basic group folder structures for that, as linked below.
Otherwise, you will probably next see something from me relating to these
efforts in early December. If you are interested in joining the work of
either of these groups, please add your name to the lists in the notes:

3a) ETHRD – Resources! (catalog)
The discussion that led up to this group was centered around the number of
resources available, the perceived lack of a tool for finding them,
qualities people wanted to know about training resources, e.g., description,
duration, group size, link to materials etc., forum for hands on exercises,
getting feedback for resources.

3b) FAIR Cookbook sprint
The discussion of this work focused on the idea of how to create and help
people organize events/trainings on FAIR, open science policies, and data
management. The thought was that producing a handbook might help. The idea
was that a ‘Sprint’ concept is really useful in general, it doesn’t have to
result in a full book but can also be ‘10 things’, guidelines, or list .

I look forward to moving on both of these efforts!
Best,
Amy
