Dear colleagues of the RDA DRAWG,
I am making use of this mailing list to inform you of the FAIR-IMPACT call for financial support that is currently open. Several offers for support are proposed, but I would like to point your attention to one in particular: ‘Recommendations for trustworthy and FAIR-enabling data repositories’ (see the text below). This call is related to the ongoing work in FAIR-IMPACT to develop guidelines to improve the transparency of repository information. In this work, we make a direct connection to the work executed by the RDA DRAWG, and this support offer will also draw heavily on the output from this working group.
Participants will work on evaluating the current exposure of repository attributes as defined by DRAWG, and consider ways to improve this using our guidelines and further support. This will help to refine the guidelines based on practical input, and help identify processes to expose in our prototype work.
We hope this news of direct implementation of your work contributes to some positive feelings and can function as a source of motivation to keep up the great work! Of course, we’d also greatly appreciate if you would consider applying to this call and to spread the word in your networks.
Kind regards, on behalf of the FAIR-IMPACT Task 5.4 team,
    Maaike Verburg

FAIR-IMPACT open call for financial support: Recommendations for trustworthy and FAIR-enabling data repositories
FAIR-enabling and trustworthy data repositories play a central role in making and keeping data FAIR over time. While there is ongoing debate on what constitutes trustworthiness, there is broad agreement that transparency and evidence is essential to enable end users to make informed decisions about the repository services they use. In the scope of FAIR assessment, there are also steps to take in the findability of assessment information, and the exposure of assessment results. FAIR-IMPACT has developed guidelines to improve the transparency of, and trust in, repositories. In this support action successful applicants will have the opportunity to test the guidelines and receive guidance on exposing relevant metadata at the organisational and object level to facilitate discovery, provide context, and support interoperability.
Successful applicants will receive 4000 € to enable their participation. To be eligible, applicants must reside and/or work in an EU or Associated Country.
