    Hi Robert,
The RDA WG decided very early on to focus on the identification/reference and access aspects of citation and not consider the credit aspect which is very contextual. Andi and I actually just discussed this again last week and agreed to keep our focus.
Meanwhile, I think the ESIP guidelines do a good job of examining the overall issue. They are geared to Earth science, but I think they work for any observational science.
More general guidelines are offered by DataVerse, DataCite, and the Digital Curation Center (all referenced by ESIP). Also the CODATA review done some years ago is still useful.
I’m not sure we need more guidelines but rather more implementations.
Somewhat in that direction is a new groups spinning up to examine issues of detailed credit. I sent a message about this a couple weeks ago and they are also looking to set up something in RDA.
    cheers,
    -m.

    Dear Mark,

I cannot find information about “a new groups spinning up to examine issues of detailed credit” you mentioned in your message. Could you provide some pointers to it? We’d be very interest to follow the discussion/contribute to that.

    Thanks!
