    *Staffing in RDA*
As you may know, RDA is undergoing a transition in leadership. Mark Parsons will be stepping down as the Secretary General at the beginning of July. At the same time, Hilary Hanahoe, a founding member of the Secretariat and overall Plenary Coordinator, is taking a leave of absence until early 2018. Council is working hard to appoint a Secretary General in place as soon as possible, but it appears the Secretariat will be rather short staffed for the next few months (< 3 FTE).
The Secretariat has assessed our priorities and respective roles and has developed a plan to support the community through this period of transition. Planning and supporting Plenaries will be the number one priority followed closely by supporting Working and Interest Groups in their initiation and product delivery. General communications such as this newsletter and the website will also remain a priority. More general support of the operations and governance of RDA will get less attention, and we will not be able to spend much time on strategic planning and new initiatives.
The whole team will work closely together, but we have also assigned certain leadership roles. Stefanie Kethers will be the overall Director of Operations ensuring the general functioning and organisational health of RDA while assisting the work of Council. Timea Biro will be the new Plenary Coordinator, and Yolanda Meleco will oversee general communications. Lynn Yarmey will lead the effort to support Working and Interest Groups as well as TAB. Fotis Karayannis will continue to support the OAB, and will be responsible for business aspects of RDA including acting as the secretary for the RDA Foundation. Denise Small will handle financial and administrative matters. Our newest members, Laura Baracchi and Florence Bénézit will be providing communications and data science support.
None of us work full time on the global Secretariat, but although the team is short-staffed, we are all extremely committed to making it work. We are aided and enthused by the spirit and competence of the RDA membership. We are confident that RDA will emerge from this transition with more resources, more commitment, and even more successes.
