    Dear all,
Further to the post on November 29th, and the proposal to adapt our charter to encompass the Collections as Data movement, and to rebrand as the Collections as Data IG. The co-chairs are fully supportive of this group rebranding and we have received your positive feedback. The participation of existing members of the RDA’s Archives and Records Professionals for Research Data IG is strongly encouraged as we seek approval to transition to the Collections as Data IG.

A presentation by Beth Knazook, Digital Repository of Ireland, on the need for a Collections as Data IG can been viewed here:
    RDA CAD IG First Meeting

Since that first meeting much has taken place, please see below for further developments:
The second meeting of the (proposed) RDA Collections as Data IG took place on January 17th which was well attended and full of enthusiasm and engagement.

As we begin to find a rhythm that works for this group I’d like to start with considering other approaches to meetings, to this end could you indicate your preferences in this poll and we’ll see how we can best accommodate our global membership.
A (very) short poll on how we might work best as a group

If you were unable to attend you can find links to notes, slides and other resources from the meeting below.
Meeting notes (including text from Zoom chat)
Meeting slides including presentations from Steven, Joan and Sally.

You can contribute to the revision of the Archives and Records Professionals IG Charter here

Read about Steven’s Datasheets for Datasets work with EuropeanaPro in this journal article Datasheets for Digital Cultural Heritage Datasets (Journal of Open Humanities Data), look at the Datasheets for datasets template and give feedback to steven.claeyssens@kb.nl

Give feedback on DRI’s citation proposal in the document here, or contact Joan directly (j.murphy@ria.ie) with suggestions.

Consider Sally’s Workflow for Collections as Data and contact her to give feedback at sally.chambers@dariah.eu or reach out to her about attending the KBR/Europeana event Collections as Data: Collaborating across data spaces for Cultural heritage and Open Science.

Ponder whether you’d like to propose something for the Virtual RDA Plenary in May 2024 (cfp closes Tuesday, 13 February, 2024, 23:59 UTC).

Please feel free to contact myself (j.murphy@ria.ie) or Beth (b.knazook@ria.ie) with feedback on the meeting more generally, or on any of the above topics,

    Best wishes,
    Joan
