Dear members of the Archives and Records Professionals for Research Data IG,
The Digital Repository of Ireland will be co-chairing a discussion that may be of interest to this group. I’ll be discussing the formation of a Cultural Heritage Data Interest Group with Thomas Padilla, Internet Archive, in the session titled “Why aren’t we talking about Collections as Data?” on Monday, October 23rd at 12:00 UTC.
The session will start with an overview of DRI’s work in the WorldFAIR Project towards domain-sensitive recommendations for implementing the FAIR Principles, and Thomas will share some insights from the Mellon-funded “Collections as Data” project in the US. We also have presenters giving lightning talks on the European Data Space for Cultural Heritage, the Biodiversity Heritage Collections supported by DiSSCo, FAIR-ifying the National Library of Finland and using historical agricultural collections for interdisciplinary research at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagne.
We aim to leave lots of time for discussion, so please join us if you can!
Best,
Beth
