Brief introduction describing the activities and scope of the group
This is a joint session between three core RDA groups whose contributions are directed to data management planning:

Active Data Management Plans IG that acts as a nucleus for discussing requirements for and identifying developments needed to support active (i.e. able to evolve and be monitored) data management planning. 

DMP Common Standards WG that realizes the vision of DMPs being fully integrated into the systems and workflows of the wider research data management environment, through the development of a common data model, vocabularies and reference implementations in popular formats, such as JSON, XML, RDF, etc. 

Discipline-specific Guidance for Data Management Plans WG that aims to propose discipline-specific adaptations for DMP templates for the disciplines behavioral, educational and social science, natural and engineering science as well as life science with the focus on medicine and biology.

Meeting objectives
The aim of this joint session is both to spread awareness and collect best practices on the technical and policy aspects of data management planning. That way, participants and co-chairs will be able to paint a better picture of the current landscape to then be able to collectively explore ways of supporting identified community needs and gaps.
Thus, the session will highlight:

the capabilities offered when adopting the DMP Common Standard to create and exchange machine actionable DMPs

the templates that drive data management planning and support researchers’ compliance with respective Research Data Management (RDM) policies in different scientific disciplines

the adoption of the outputs and group activities by the community:

DMP tools – automations and disciplinary prospects

Disciplinary efforts – standardizing disciplinary templates

the support needed to implement DMPs, at all levels.

Target Audience
The target audience is anyone dealing with Data Management Plans in their work: from researchers and support staff, such as librarians, data stewards and curators who perform Research Data Management and provide guidance for  its proper Planning, to policy and technical staff who develop DMP templates and rules guiding their implementation, especially for machine actionable data management plans, e.g. repository operators, service providers, policy makers.
