Hi all:
We have received 13 reviews of our documents and I expect several more to
be submitted in the next few days. They are largely positive. All have
useful suggestions that are both substantive and stylistic, and some are
very detailed. However, I do not anticipate any significant restructuring
and almost all can be addressed with word and sentence changes.
The submissions thus far are a very good cross-section of sectors and
geographic representation. In sectors, we have 4 scientists, 3 data center
managers (also scientists), 3 lawyers, 2 librarians, and one publisher. I
hope to get the perspectives yet of at least one or two research funders or
policymakers, and of several more countries. The geographic spread is also
very good: 5 US, 4 EU (2 NE, UK, and ES), and one each from Canada, New
Zealand, China, and Colombia.
I have contacted a few of the missing reviewers and have given them until
next Monday, the 30th, to respond. I will compile the comments as before,
both in summary responses to the questions that were posed to them, as well
as a redlined version of the two documents. Each comment will have a draft
response for your consideration and possible discussion in the upcoming
telcons.
I should be able to send all these materials out for your reading pleasure
by Monday, the 6th. We can resume our Friday telephone calls on the 10th,
and ought to be able to finish them in June, maybe early July, so we will
be on track to finalize them for the International Data Week in September.
We also will have breakout sessions in Denver, both at the CODATA-WDS and
the RDA meetings. The focus will be on the dissemination process and next
steps.
Thank you for your continued engagement in this project.
Cheers,
Paul
