    Data Manager
We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Manager to join the Infectious Diseases Data Observatory (IDDO), a busy friendly department based within the Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, University of Oxford.
IDDO aims to facilitate ethical and equitable data sharing, bringing together members of the global infectious disease community to collaborate in the generation, analysis and application of data to improve outcomes for patients. IDDO’s unique data-sharing initiative facilitates complex meta-analyses to generate evidence on the efficacy of existing medicines, inform the development of new ones and advance understanding of disease. Recently IDDO’s malaria data platform was used for the largest malaria meta-analysis on individual patient data, and the COVID-19 data platform has been used throughout the pandemic to inform research and healthcare policy.
As Data Manager, you will work across the IDDO disease portfolio, including for example: malaria (WWARN), ebola, visceral leishmaniasis, schistosomiasis, COVID-19 and medicine quality. Data platforms are also in development for scrub typhus, chagas disease and febrile illness.
The main focus of this post will be the management and transformation of the diverse data sets that are submitted to IDDO, resulting in a standardised data repository ready for sharing and meta-analysis. You will work closely with the core IDDO team, including Statisticians, Programme Managers and Software Engineers and also communicate directly with data contributors around the world.
It is essential that you have an undergraduate qualification in a scientific or health-related field together with experience of data management and transformation. You will have evidence of a high level of attention to detail in order to deal with and process large and diverse datasets. Good communication skills and the ability to work with people from different backgrounds and all levels of seniority is essential. You will have evidence of good problem-solving skills.
In return we offer generous benefits, some of which are:
    – Generous holiday allowance of 38 days including bank holidays
    – Membership of the Oxford Staff pension scheme
    – Discounted bus travel
    – Cycle loan scheme
    – Plus many other University benefits
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online and you will be required to upload a supporting statement and CV as part of your online application. Your supporting statement must explain how you meet each of the selection criteria for the post using examples of your skills and experience.
