Dear all, I have made some updates to the Word document “Water Data Portals” and have uploaded it as a file under the OSF project “Water Data Portals” (https://osf.io/8mn3q/). This is a “public” project so you should be able to access it.
Version 2 contains some additional data portals. Note that some of the data portals that Philippe had added to his Google Docs version were already on the list but under a different “name”.
I think that I would have to add specific individuals as “contributors” in order for others to upload files. I will deal with that when the time comes.
Within the soon-to-be-formed GWI IG discussion group on “hydrologic data discovery and catalogs”, we may want to discuss questions such as:
n What criteria should be used for inclusion/exclusion?
n Would it be better to have the list in Excel format?
n Should the “names” be standardized in some way (which would hopefully allow for the alphabetical list to be more consistent)?
n Would it be useful to add columns with other attributes to allow for easier searching and/or sorting?
    Hope this is useful, Janet

    Dear All,
Thanks to all who expressed interest in joining a discussion on water data discovery and portals/catalogs. I created a Doodle poll for an initial telecon – please indicate your availability in the coming week (if impossible – we’ll extend it, but then I am on travel..)
    http://doodle.com/poll/mre6sn3f6yqy8r45
Also, here is an initial Google doc with discussion notes and resources for this subgroup – see https://docs.google.com/document/d/13P2qtp42idYuDZ7vH0BFxk-1CXuZuUJ2GML0… and please don’t hesitate to edit.

    Dear All,
Thanks for indicating your availability for the first telecon on water data discovery and portals. The votes are in, and most of those who responded can meet either on Wednesday May 31st at 9am New York == 6am San Diego == 2pm UK == 3 pm Paris== 11pm Canberra (or the same time the day after). I suggest we connect on Wednesday May 31st.
We can connect by skype – but I will also figure out other options (eg Gotomeeting or similar), and will send an update tomorrow
    Thanks!
    – Ilya.

    Dear All,
As part of the RDA Global Water Information IG, we are planning to discuss water data discovery and water data portals – see the initial discussion points in the Google doc, and a Doodle to settle on the time of the telecon. You can also see the preceding discussion at https://www.rd-alliance.org/groups/global-water-information-interest-gro… (also, please use this opportunity to sign up for group’s messages) The RDA GWIIG is a partner activity to HDWG, with many of the same folks involved.
If this topic is of interest to you, please add your availability to Doodle.
    Thanks!
