Dear members of the FAIR data maturity model Working Group, As mentioned during the third workshop, we would like you to provide feedback to the proposals (i.e. indicators and their maturity levels) presented on GitHub [1], if at all possible, *by the 30th June 2019*. As you may have noticed in the workshop report [2], comments and suggestions made at the meeting are listed under the principle to which they relate. In order to take things further, the editorial team proposed resolutions, where appropriate. The points raised during the third workshop have been moved to GitHub. We encourage you to have a look at them and provide feedback if you find anything lacking, misinterpreted, overlooked, or otherwise in need of improvement. Below you can find direct links to the issues opened on GitHub. Each issue, as presented in the workshop report, contains the slide with the proposals and the points raised during the workshop. We’ll welcome your feedback on the issues: – F1 (Meta)data are assigned globally unique and persistent identifiers [ Link ] – F2 Data are described with rich metadata [Link ] – F3 Metadata clearly and explicitly include the identifier of the data they describe [Link ] – F4 (Meta)data are registered or indexed in a searchable resource [Link ] – A1 (Meta)data are retrievable by their identifier using a standardised communication protocol [Link ] – A1.1 The protocol is open, free and universally implementable [Link ] – A1.2 The protocol allows for an authentication and authorisation where necessary [Link ] – A2 Metadata are accessible, even when the data are no longer available [Link ] – I1 (Meta)data use a formal, accessible, shared and broadly applicable language for knowledge representation [Link ] – I2 (Meta)data use vocabularies that follow the FAIR principles [Link ] – I3 (Meta)data include qualified references to other (meta)data [Link ] – R1 (Meta)data are richly described with a plurality of accurate and relevant attributes [Link ] – R1.1 (Meta)data are released with a clear and accessible data usage license [Link ] – R1.2 (Meta)data are associated with detailed provenance [Link ] – R1.3 (Meta)data meet domain-relevant community standards [Link ] To contribute to the issues, you will need a GitHub account. If you don’t have one already, you can sign up for an account at [3]. Once you have your account, you can make use of the *watch *feature. Watching the FAIR data maturity model repository [4], you will receive notifications for all discussions taking place (e.g. new issues and comments). We remain at your disposal should you have any questions. Best regards, The editorial team.
