Brief introduction describing the activities and scope of the group
The goal of the Open Science Graphs Interest Group (OSG IG) is to build on the outcomes and broaden the challenges of the Data Description Registry Interoperability (DDRI) and Scholarly Link Exchange (Scholix) RDA Working Groups to investigate the open issues and identify solutions towards achieving interoperability between services and information models of Open Science Graph initiatives.
The aim is to improve FAIRness of research data, and more generally FAIR-ness of science, by enabling the smooth exchange of the interlinked metadata overlay required to access research data at the meta-level of the discovery-for-citation/monitoring and at the thematic level of the discovery-for-reuse. Such “FAIR-ness” and “interlinked-ness” provide strong support for research integrity and research innovation which in turn underpin significant social environmental and economic benefits.
The Scholarly Link Exchange Working group aims to enable links between scholarly literature and data.  The working group leverages existing work and international initiatives to work towards a global information commons by establishing:

Pathfinder services and enabling infrastructure

An interoperability framework with guidelines and standards (see also http://www.scholix.org)

A significant consensus

Support for communities of practice and implementation

The working group status is “maintenance” since the Scholix approach is settled.  The collaborators in the group are still actively embedding the simple Scholix idea into culture, workflows and systems of scholarly communication.

Meeting objectives
​​​​​​This session reviews the latest developments in linking research information.
The Open Science Graph for FAIR Data IG connects research data with other research activities, including but not limited to publications, software, people, institutions, grants and funders. There is great interest by a number of organizations to contribute to and/or consume this Open Science graph. 
Having established a simple information exchange model the Scholix working group has been looking to embed a culture of linking datasets and publications into long-lived scholarly communications services and workflows.  Small adjustments to existing practices and systems are heralding big changes in understanding at a global scale what data underpins publications and which publications reference data.
The RDA Data Description Registry Interoperability (DDRI) has done extensive work on implementation of services and community adoption around research graphs that include research data. 
The goal of this session is to

Provide an overview of the current state of graphs in scholarly communication 

Zoom in on the culture, community and technology specific to linking data and publications

Highlight community needs and new developments open science graphs

Identify next steps in for  graph interoperability

Target Audience
The target audience for this session are data managers, eResearch software developers, research managers, policy makers and users interested in contributing to and/or consuming Open Science Graphs for FAIR Data. This session aims to provide an abstract picture of the Open Science Graphs, provide a platform for connecting interested research data community in this space.
