Dear Chemistry Data Interest Group Member,
Will you be attending the April 2017 RDA Plenary in Barcelona? If so:
    * Are there any chemistry-related data topics you would like to discuss?
    * Is there anything relevant to the chemistry data community you would like to share?
During 2017 there will be a number of chemistry-specific data-related meetings and activities taking place, variously supported by IUPAC, ACS, RSC, InChI Trust and Beilstein-Institut. Discussions will in fact be occurring at an ACS meeting in San Francisco whilst the RDA is convening in Barcelona. By the time of the September RDA plenary we expect to have a lot to report back on. The April RDA plenary is potentially an opportunity for those of you who may not otherwise come into contact with the chemistry community during the year to feed into activities and discussions that will be taking place elsewhere.
If you would be interested in contributing to a RDA CRDIG Breakout session in Barcelona in any way, please let us know as soon as you can and in any case no later than 7 Jan 2017. The level of interest indicated by you will determine whether we apply for a breakout session and if we do, what topics this will cover.
Please also let us know if you are aware of other sessions being organised where specific input from the chemistry data community might be of particular value and if there is anything this interest group can do to support those.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Ian (on behalf of CRDIG co-chairs)

    Dear Chemistry Data Interest Group,

Thank you for admitting me to the Group. I work with regulatory aspects of chemical data integration, recently I have started working on metadata strategy and I am really happy that I found this forum.

Last year I participated in Metadata and Semantics Research Conference (MTSR Tallin – http://www.mtsr-conf.org). In various discussions I found a few colleagues who are interested in semantics and metadata related to chemicals. I discussed with the Organisers and we agreed that chemicals could be one of the themes of the next MTSR Conference in Cyprus in 2018.

I would like to ask you, on behalf of the Organisers, if you could consider participating in the conference in November/December this year. If this is not possible, perhaps your peers or students could consider this possibility and give a presentation about metadata or semantics in chemicals and/or their use. It would be very beneficial for the MTSR Conference to bring the subject chemical metadata.

Additionally, I would be very grateful for any advice on where the chemical metadata events take place (in Europe). From my side I would like to contribute to building or reinforcing a common platform since I find the subject of chemicals and regulations really fascinating.

    Best regards,
    Alicja
