EOSC Future grant: Laura Morales – Ethnic and migration studies in Europe

Summary

The main goal of Laura’s ambassadorship was to increase ethnic and migration studies researchers’ awareness of the RDA and EOSC and engagement with communities involved with them. She promoted the adoption of the RDA recommendations and outputs and EOSC as a European framework for discovering tools and services for the ethnic and migration studies research community. While most researchers in the social sciences – including those researching ethnic and migration studies – are aware of the main aspects of the Open Science and Open Data agenda, very few are aware of the FAIR principles and community, what applying the principles entails in practice in everyday research activities. Very few researchers are aware of the RDA community and the resources produced by its members. Awareness of the existence and strategic value of EOSC is equally lacking. Thus, the main overarching objective of this RDA/EOSC Future Ambassador project was to actively contribute to integrating individual researchers and major research organisations in the field of ethnic and migration studies into the universe of Open Science in Europe.
