IG Established

Given the increased value of research data as a national research asset, many countries are

establishing national services to provide services, coordination and support for research data storage, processing, management, analysis, publication, reuse, sharing etc.

The peers for such national data services are other national data services, and this interest group is intended as a peer support forum to exchange ideas and share experiences.

What services do national data services offer?

How can national data services organise themselves?

Who benefits?

By allowing national data services to learn from the experience of each other, the desired outcome is to increase efficiency for the individual operators of national data services and to promote a more coherent and joined-up community of practicioners.

The interest group aims to identify shared concerns and jointly address them through a variety of independent projects, collaborations, or working groups.

Update on the RDA NDS Interest Group

Colleagues,
The National Data Services Interest Group has been facilitating the discussion of data services in a national/regional context since Plenary 5. The most recent IG meeting was held at P12 in Gaborone, and the most recent output of the IG was a summary of selected National Data Services based on a survey. There was no submission for the IG for the previous plenary in Philadelphia, and there was no submission for the upcoming plenary in Helsinki.

Philadelphia plenary

Hi Colleagues,
you may have noted that we decided not to run a National Data Services
session at Philadelphia. Christine, Mark and I will be discussing future
options for the group and would welcome your input.
We will be participating in the following BoF that we recommend you attend
if you are interested in national level data initiatives:

Working on the final agenda doe the NDS IG meeting in Gaborone

Colleagues,
I am working on the final agenda for the NDS IG meeting at the Plenary in Gaborone. If you are interested in presenting an update under the Lightning Talks session on your NDS efforts, or under the Discovery “lens” later in the agenda, please let me know so I can update the agenda. If you see a project with which you are associated, but no names listed, that means it was highlighted at our last meeting as one that would be willing to provide an update, so feel free to let me know if you are in a position to claim one of those spots :-)
