BlueBRIDGE Webinar on EO Data for Aquaculture detection - Friday 02 FEB

Dear FDI-ers,

The FDI Working Group activities to promote data interoperability has covered the generation of spatially explicit data as georeferenced data in the recent past. We now look the other way, and present how EO data can contribute to the identification of fisheries activities. The acitivity is covered by the BlueBRIDGE project, and some FDI members have provided significant contributions to the success of the service (Thanks E. Blondel)

Global Record of Stocks and Fisheries Data Integration

Dear FDIers,

Today @ 15:00 Rome time FDI-WG Member Aureliano Gentile (with a little help from some friends) will introduce the Global Record of Stocks and Fisheries (GRSF); an integrated (3 data sources) dynamic (yes, we can update) and harmonized (heavily relying on FAO CWP classifications for species, gears, etc).

Read here how to connect, what it looks like, and how it was developed.

FDI related webinar on Marine Protected Areas Impact Maps

If you want to 'lazily' learn about the Marine Protected Area Impact Maps Virtual Research Environment (VRE), check out this webinar http://bit.ly/2hvhhAb that will run you through how to compile your own MPA report and much more.

The slides are also available : https://goo.gl/QmB5ag

We believe this is a good example of how an e-Infrastructure supports user-facing products (that you can see) with a complex data import and QA process (that you cannot see).

Marine Protected Areas VRE Launch

Dear FWI-WG Members,

Several key members of this WG are pleased to intite you to the launch of the Protected Areas Impact Maps VRE (PAIM), a portal that integrates environmental and biophysical data with an analytical webviewer. Since it re-uses and shares many features with the FDI-WG vision, you will see a lot of advantages demonstrated related to geospatial data harmonization and analysis.

Using R to manage metadata and promote interoperability (FDI-WG)

Dear IG's / WG's,

We would like to invite you to an RDA related event that we believe to be relevant to your activities; "Use R to manage metadata of especially time-series (in our case related to Tuna Fisheries) and comply with OGC standards while using controlled vocabularies."

Most of the presented software is Open Source, and we will demonstrate how it can help (you) to manage time-series and geospatial data. We welcome feed-back, and if this of your interest, please consider to join the FDI-WG
