Data Type Registries WG & #2

WG

Group details

Chair(s):
Larry Lannom, Tobias Weigel
Secretariat Liaison:
Yolanda Meleco
Case Statement:

The DTR2 group is currently following up on the work of the DTR group using this space as there is a demand for revisions based on the initial adoption experiences.

The Data Type Registries Working Group will compile a set of use cases for data type use and management. It will identify and distinguish among existing ‘type registry’ efforts and their potential interaction with this group  and formulate a data model and expression for types. It will also design a functional specification for type registries and propose a federation strategy among multiple type registries at both the technical and organizational levels.

DTR call scheduled

All,

A DTR group call has been scheduled for 1 Feb at 16:00 UTC, lasting up to one hour. This will be one of potentially two calls between now and P9. Logistics will be sent out before the call.

Topic suggestions welcome. I will ask Giridhar to give a brief summary of the ISO activity, for those who haven’t heard about this yet, and will preview, to the extent that there is anything more to say, the P9 Breakout. Basically, however, I think we should 1) get around the table updates for any DTR-related projects and 2) views on what needs to be done next.

Thanks,

Re: [rda-dtr-wg][rda-pid-ig][rda-collection-wg] CFP: Persistent Identifier session at EGU 2017

Thanks, Tobias, for sharing this CfP. I'm forwarding your message to the
Geospatial IG, where it is definitely of interest (although the
submission deadline is quite short).
Best,
Andrea

A reminder that our breakout session is Breakout 6 on Friday, 16 Sept, 15:30 - 17:00

The agenda is flexible, with an emphasis on moving from theory to practice and looking at existing efforts. Those who have agreed to share their experience are listed below in the draft agenda, but other short statements are welcome as well.

Hope to see many of you there.

Data Type model update for review and comment

I've been working on a new version of a Data Type model for consideration by the working group. We're testing in the context of an EarthCube Building Block project (Digital Crust, the regitry is called 'Information Exchange Registry' in the architecture diagrams) for use in registering heterogeneous tabular datasets to enable (in the goal state) more automated data integration.

DTR #2 Case Statement

Please note that the Case Statement for DTR #2 is now available for public comment. As requested, RDA has not started a brand new Group page, but simply continued with the original DTR group with the same mailing list and so on. This is essentially the same Case Statement that was posted to this group some weeks ago, but with a few added organizations indicating interest and prototype activities.
