Meeting title:
Meeting of the Research Data Repository Interoperability Group
A short introduction describing the activities and the scope of the group:
Research data are stored in a wide variety of repository platforms, using disparate data modeling and metadata standards, file formats, and conventions. It is often necessary to migrate data from one repository platform to another, share data between different repositories, and disseminate repository resources to a variety of services. These tasks are made difficult, and in some cases impossible, by a lack of interoperability between different repository platforms.
The Research Data Repository Interoperability Working Group will establish standards for interoperability between different research data repository platforms. These standards may include (but are not limited to) a generic API and import/export formats.
During the first year of its lifetime the working group has collected a set of possible technologies and standards that might be feasible for achieving platform interoperability. The final list of candidates contains standardized interfaces as well as exchange formats and custom tools and is compiled into a primer document which is publicly available. In the months between publishing the primer document and RDA Plenary 10 the working group was discussing which kind of outcome should be targeted, e.g. suggesting the implementation of a standard, suggesting a standard exchange format or providing a custom interface description and implementation guidelines.

Meeting objectives:
• Updating participants regarding current status of the WG discussion
• Collecting opinions, comments, experiences with regard to the targeted outcome
• Win over new active contributors to the discussion in the final lifetime phase of the WG
Meeting agenda
• Introduction and status update (Thomas Jejkal) 20 minutes
• Working part (All participants) 60 minutes
o Discussion about current status
o Collecting experiences, opinions, concerns
• Summary of results and next steps (co-chairs)
Target audience:
The target audience of this meeting may include research data repository developers and providers as well as users interested in the topic of research data repository interoperability. In order to get the basic idea behind this group reading the documents mentioned above can help. This session is meant to be a working session. Thus, a certain amount of previous knowledge about this WG and/or research data repository interoperability is recommended.
