Piyushimita (Vonu) Thakuriah is the Ch2M Chair of Transport and Professor of Urban Studies in the University of Glasgow. She is the founding Director of the Urban Big Data Centre, a seven-university consortium that includes a UK-wide data service to inspire cities-related innovations. Her interests are in methods and policies on smart and socially-just transport and urban informatics using emerging sources of data to understand complex urban problems. Her most recent book is Seeing Cities with Big Data: Research, Methods and Applications in Urban Informatics (Springer, 2016). Prior to Glasgow, she was in the University of Illinois at Chicago.
