Graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (then the USSR), obtaining the MSc degree and the physicist-researcher qualification in he field of Biophysics. Obtained the PhD at the TU Munich (the work was done in the MPI for Biochemistry, Dept. Strukturforschung (supervisor prof. R. Huber, FRS). Since the year 2000 working as a researcher in the Institute of Biotechnology, Vilnius, Lithuania; since 2011 the Institute merged with the Vilnius University (VU), becoming the Vilnius University Institute of Biotechnology. Currently holding positions of senior researcher in the VU Institute of Biotechnology and professor in the VU Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics.
