Dr. Arne-Jørgen Berre is chief research scientist at SINTEF and associate professor II in Informatics at the University of Oslo. Arne has a PhD degree from 1993 on Systems Integration and Interoperability, and has been responsible for the ISO/TC211 ISO 19119 standard and OGC Topic 12 on Geospatial Services initial version in 2001 and revision in 2014, OMG Service oriented modeling language in 2011, and CEN/TC287 TR 15449 on integrated Data and Service view on Spatial Data Infrastructures in 2012. He is Architecture responsible in the FP7 CITI-SENSE project on Citizens observatories and crowd sourcing with (linked) open data and GEOSS integration (AIP-6/7), with a focus on platform and architecture for big data and data sharing and services - applied to research data for Environmental information in general and for Air quality and Biodiversity in particular. He is co-chair for the revision task force for the SoaML (service oriented architecture modeling language) standard from OMG, and a member of the international Belmont forum on e-Infrastructure and Data Management for Environmental data. He is the coordinator of the ENVIP community effort on Environmental Infrastructures and Platforms. He is currently the chair of the Technical Research priority areas (Big Data Management, Architecture, Analytics, Privacy and Visualisation) in the European BDVA (Big Data Value Association).
