I am the Research Data Steward at the University of Sydney – a relatively new academic position which reports to the DVC-Research. Essentially my job is to keep researchers supplied with the best tools with which to do their work, keep them engaged with University policy (what fun!!) and provide the environment and training that will lead to culture change in research data management. I am a teaching/research academic by trade, with a background in Molecular Biology (qPCR, gene expression), Nutrition (clinical trials management database creation), and Bioinformatics (mainly microrarray analysis). In addition, I designed the nutritional information system for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. I am an enthusiastic adopter of new teaching technologies and have won several Teaching Awards at local and national level.
