Dr Jan-Willem Boiten
After obtaining his Ph.D. degree in chemistry in 1995 (University of Nijmegen) Jan-Willem Boiten moved to Organon taking up various managerial positions in research informatics managing 15-20 specialists (project managers, application managers and software developers). Since 2011 he is program manager at CTMM (Center for Translational Molecular Medicine) for the TraIT (Translational Research IT) program, a Dutch national initiative to establish an IT infrastructure for translational research with a budget of approximately 18M€. In this role he managed to grow TraIT towards 30 actively participating partners including all Dutch university medical centers. Next to his primary role in TraIT Jan-Willem Boiten coordinates the IT collaboration between the Dutch UMCs, Data4LifeSciences, is co-WP leader within the NWO roadmap project BBMRI-NL 2.0, and is representing the medical sector within the Dutch Techcenter for the LifeSciences (DTL). Internationally, Jan-Willem is active in several international projects and organizations, in particular BioMedBridges, EATRIS, and the tranSMART Foundation.
