I'm joining the RDA as a United States Early Career Fellow 2015-2016, brought on to work with the Metadata Interest Group on a project to assess the advantages of using linked open data for discovering datasets for interdisciplinary research. I have been working at the Northwest Knowledge Network at the University of Idaho for seven months after two years working for Economic Modeling Specialists International. For these past three years I have been a professional programmer. Before that I received a M.S. in applied physics from Rice University in Houston, Texas. I received a dual B.S. in mathematics and physics from Syracuse University. I have always been interested in communication and how knowledge and information are transmitted. My main project with the Northwest Knowledge Network is to build a data and modeling management system for hydrological science. A central part of this project is social data sharing, so my appointment as an RDA fellow is a truly serendipitous fit.
