Mrs Lucie Burgess
Lucie Burgess is Head of Personal Data and Trust at Digital Catapult and a Senior Research Fellow at Hertford College, University of Oxford. At the Digital Catapult, Lucie leads the ‘data-driven’ technology layer – incorporating personal data, privacy, cybersecurity and distributed trust – and the Digital Health Programme. Lucie’s research and commercial interests are in responsible innovation with personal data, data governance and the privacy and ethical issues associated with personal data exchange in the digital economy. She has over 20 years experience of digital strategy, technology implementation and data governance working with the University of Oxford, the British Library, information services company United Business Media and consulting firm Deloitte. Lucie has an undergraduate and Masters degree in Physics from the University of Oxford gained in 1997, for which she was awarded the Atmospheric, Oceanic and Planetary Physics Prize. She is a board adviser to Bibliotech, a scale–up company which distributes academic e–books, an adviser to the National Library of Israel on their digital strategy and a member of the CityVerve IoT demonstrator privacy and trust committee.
