Mr Charles Newey
Hi, my name is Charlie, and I'm a Computer Science (BSc) student at Aberystwyth University. I'm currently working at CEDA for 12 months as a part of my degree course. I'm involved in a number of projects at CEDA, including large-scale metadata extraction (I've written a toolkit in Python to this end), petascale file-based search using modern clustered search systems (Lucene/SOLr/Elasticsearch), and developing web-based visualisations for scientific flight and satellite data. I'm also a contributor to several open-source projects - including GitLab, AdBlock, and some others. I sometimes blog about various technical things I'm interested in, too - ranging from discussing Python programming, data visualisations, ElasticSearch features, parallel processing, and other things that interest me.
