Ece Turnator was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. She came to the US for graduate school and received her PhD in medieval (Byzantine) history from Harvard University in 2013. Between 2013 and 2016, she was a Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) postdoctoral fellow at The University of Texas at Austin Libraries and the English Department. Since 2016 she works as the Humanities and Digital Scholarship Librarian at MIT Libraries.
