Director of the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme Val de Loire, Xavier Rodier is a specialist in urban and spatial archaeology, his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches on the Space-time of past societies is at the interface between archaeology, geography and computer science. His work focuses on the deployment of Geographic Information Systems and the computerisation of archaeological processes, Archaeomatics, from acquisition to publication of results and data. A founding member of the inter-MSH network Spatial Information and Archaeology in 2001, he directed the Research group Modelling of Spatial Dynamics (MoDyS) from 2010 to 2013 and the Laboratoire Archéologie et Territoires (UMR CITERES) from 2012 to 2019. Since 2017, he has been coordinating the Mémoires des archéologues et des sites archéologiques (MASA) consortium of the French Very Large Research Infrastructure Huma-Num. Focused on archiving, interoperability and publication in the Linked Open Data, MASA is a vector for the dissemination of FAIR principles in partnership with international infrastructures. Xavier Rodier is partner of the ARDIANEplus project (H2020), the COST action Saving European Archaeology from the Digital Dark Age (SEADDA) and 4CH project, Competence Centre for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage (H2020).
