At Library and Archives Canada (LAC) since 1999; currently as a Senior Project Manager in the Recordkeeping Strategies section of Archives Branch. Since 2008, my work has focused primarily on government records - developing IM strategies, plans, policies, and guidelines; and on program delivery of LAC’s mandate to facilitate the management of information by government institutions. I was a core member of the LAC team that worked with Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat to write the Directive on Recordkeeping. I was also one of the principal authors of the Government's Guideline on Information Management: Setting Retention Specifications, and the Guideline on Information Management: Disposition. I'm a member of the International Council on Archives (ICA) Expert Group on Managing Digital and Physical Records; and previously, the Coordinator of ICA's New Professional Programme. I also work on standards, as Chair of the Canadian Mirror Committee for ISO TC46/SC11 (Archive and records management) and international convener for SC11WG18 (revision of ISO 13008 "Digital records conversion and migration process"). Prior to my work in the government records area, I was the Senior Archival Standards Officer in the private records area of LAC; responsible for developing or revising corporate policies and standards for the description of archival material, as well as reviewing and providing feedback on national and international standards.
