COSTA Laurent

Research Engineer at the CNRS within the UMR 7041 Archéologies et Sciences de l'Antiquité (ArScAn), Laurent Costa is specialized in the application of GIS in the framework of historical and archaeological research programs. More specifically, he leads the transversal program of the UMR ArscAn ArchéoFab - Archaeology of the Paris Basin as well as the consortium of the TGIR Huma-num Paris Time Machine. He continues his research on geohistorical reference frames and their role in the development of historical studies (Costa 2012, La construction des référentiels géohistoriques : un enjeu pour l'interdisciplinarité dans les sciences historiques, L'Espace géographique 2012/4 (Tome 41), 340-351). He participated in the ANR Alpage program (Analyse diachronique de l'espace Parisien : approche Géomatique) and published in collaboration with Hélène Noizet (Paris 1) and Boris Bove (Paris 8) the book Paris de Parcelles en Pixels (Noizet, Hélène, Boris Bove, and Laurent Costa, ed. 2013. Paris, de parcelles en pixels. Geomatic analysis of the medieval and modern Parisian space. Presses universitaires de Vincennes, Comité d'histoire de la ville de Paris) and participated in the Dynarif program (Dynamics and resilience of road networks in the Île-de-France region) in collaboration with Sandrine Robert for the constitution of a reference system on ancient roads.
