Dr. Jean-Pierre Gorvel is leading several projects in the field of the pathophysiology of infectious diseases. He manages interdisciplinary approaches associating cell biology of infections, genomics, structure biology and transcriptomics to investigate immune responses of patients and animals suffering from infectious diseases. He has been involved in several projects focused on the study of brucellosis, salmonellosis, Whooping cough and tuberculosis. He has been member of several organizations at the national, European and international level. He is member of the American Academy of Microbiology and has a long history as a manager of Foundations, Centres of excellence in the field of infectious diseases and Immunology such as the Foundation of Infectiology in Lyon and the Centre of Immunology in Marseille. Nowadays, his research focuses on vaccine and new adjuvant designs and in the development of new tools of diagnostic devoted to translation research. He is actually Panel Chair for Life Sciences at the ERCSynergy.
