Jernej Jakše received his Ph.D. in Plant Biotechnology from University of Ljubljana in 2003. He was Fulbright and postdoctoral fellow at University of Wisconsin, Department of Horticulture until 2005. Currently, Jernej Jakše is a professor at University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty, Agronomy Department. Since 2017 he is heading the national research programme P4-0077: Genetics and modern technologies of crops. He is teaching several courses on Genetics and Basics of bioinformatics. He is conducting research activities in the areas of molecular markers, plant-pathogen interactions, molecular diagnostics of diseases with genomics and transcriptomics tools.
