I have been working in Wind Energy since 1984, starting from the 1st European Wind Atlas. Since then my activity has been spanning several research areas whenever i could see a trend rising. In this, I have been pioneering the Danish offshore wind farms starting from Middelgrunden that is a lighthouse for all large projects seeking social acceptance. It has also been exciting to contribute pushing wind energy development in complex terrain as Italy. Based on the overview of the renewable energy field , since 2010, I became passionate about R&T foresight leading the Energy group at the Italian CNR and in 2013 about the Open Science ideal with focus on Open Data. Open data that brought me to lead a group for the development of the taxonomy and metadata of the wind energy sector within the EERA JP Wind Energy. In EERA JP Wind Energy, at first I was Italian National representative, coordinating the Italian group of institutions, then after moving to DTU, I became vice-chairman for the Sub Programme of Wind Conditions. Amongst other activities, I am Convener for the ERE3.1 Energy Meteorology session at the European Geophysical Union General assembly; I am in the Editorial Board of the Wind Energy Journal and reviewer for several Wind Energy and Atmospheric Physics ISI Journal. I have been vice-chairman in the COST Action WIRE. Weather Intelligence for renewable energy. Since 2019 I am in the WEMC SIG Special interest Group for data standard and sharing.
