Dr Thordis Sveinsdottir is a Senior Research Data Specialist at the Digital Curation Centre and oversees the consultation activities of the centre. Thordis has 8 years’ experience of delivering research, evaluation and analysis to organisations within the European R&I field, such as the European Commission, ENISA, STFC (UK) and The Norwegian Research Council. Thordis´ focus since 2012 has mostly been on Open Science and especially Open Access to Research Data and she is widely published on this topic. Thordis contributed to the RECODE project, which developed policy recommendations for driving open access to research data in Europe. The policy recommendations were overarching, as well as stakeholder specific (for Funders, Research Institutions, Data Managers and Publishers) and were the result of extensive research and stakeholder consultation in Europe, as well as third countries, i.e., United States and Australia. Thordis also has a strong interest in Data Ethics and Data Protection. Thordis is widely published on the topic of open access to research and co-authored the book Open Data and the Knowledge Society, published by Amsterdam University Press in 2017. Thordis has a PhD in Sociology from the University of Surrey (UK), and is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E).
