Dr JUAN MIGUEL GONZÁLEZ-ARANDA
He has degrees in Telecommunications Engineering, European PhD. Dr. & Master in Industrial Organization and Enterprise Management from the University of Seville. Since 2012 he is Head of Unit at MINECO coordinating the participation of Spanish Research e-Infrastructures in international initiatives on e-Science in tight collaboration with the European Commission (particularly DG R&I and DG CONNECT): Ministry Delegate for the e-Infrastructures Reflection Group (e-IRG), the H2020 Digital Era Forum Agenda, the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), EuroHPC initiative (Spain’s “Sherpa”), and supervisor of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) activities, being also in turn member of the Group of European Data Experts (GEDE) in RDA-Europe. He also coordinates the Spanish participation in LIFEWATCH for the recent establishment of its ERIC (http://www.lifewatch.eu). He has also followed up the Spanish participation in other ESFRI ENVironment initiatives (EMSO, EPOS, ICOS, etc.). Expert-Advisor to the definition of policy priorities, monitoring, assessment & analysis of activities related to the different Spain Regional Research and Innovation Strategies for Smart Specialization (RIS3) priorities focusing on ICT & ENVironmental areas, particularly in regards to the establishment of synergies with other EU regions. He served as Technical Director of the Singular Scientific & Technological Research e-Infrastructure of the Doñana Biological Reserve (ICTS-RBD) at Spanish Council for Scientific Research (CSIC). He also worked as Research Technologist at CSIC in S&T Research and Innovation International Cooperation projects related to several Euro-Mediterranean & LatinAmerican initiatives (ASBIMED, EUROMEDANET 1 & 2, MED 7, MELIA, INCONETs MIRA & EULARINET, ERANET EULANEST) and others such as EPOM Project-PRIME Network of Excellence, ECREINetwork, OMEN Project, EUMEDIS Network & IST MEDA, LynxGenomics, among others. He has been also lecturing as Researcher and Associate Professor at the School of Engineering of University of Seville being specialized on the Establishment of Technological Base SMEs, Biomechanics for Disabled People and Sportsmen’s High-Performance, and Digital Image Processing and Analysis applied to Healthcare. During his time as Independent Consultant-Freelance on ICT, he collaborated among others with the Spanish National Institute for Aerospace Technology-INTA (Photometry) and IBM (eServer Certified Specialist). He is also (co-)author of 30 scientific and technical publications.
