Dr Rachel Walcott
I have been head of the Earth Systems Collections (rocks, minerals and meteorites) at the National Museums Scotland since 2011. Prior to that I was a researcher in Landscape Dynamics at the University of Edinburgh, School of GeoSciences where I did numerical modelling. My PhD, research MSc, and a BSc(hons) research projects where in the field of metamorphic petrology and structural geology with a strong field geology component. Thus I have a broad range of expertise - from physical sample acquisition and to digital data generation and data management. I currently manage a team of people auditing the collection data and have an interest in issues relating to the digital representation of physical specimens.
