Mr Nikos Papapesios
My name is Nikos and I am a MSc Geoinformatics expert. In the Winter Semester of 2007, I started my Bachelor in Geoinformatics & Surveying in the Technical Educational Institute of Serres-Greece. I studied for four years learning the basic concepts of Surveying and working in many GIS projects. After finishing my military service in 2012 I continued for the next 2 years in the Master Program of University of Salzburg-Austria “Applied Geoinformatics“. The main aim was to learn new programming languages, to create new map web-mobile applications, to study on GIScience concept and to learn new GIS software. Except my passion for geography, information science and cartography I spent many years for culture. I was for more than fifteen years dancer in a cultural association and from 2011 I was the Greek Representative in CIOFF® Youth. CIOFF® is an UNESCO’s associate NGO. I was elected as Vice-President of Youth CIOFF® Council responsible for the cultural affairs of the Youth since 2014. Moreover, I was part of an innovating GIScience research team in University of Heidelberg working in WeGovNow European project! During this year a research in depth has been completed regarding the data quality of VGI such as Open Street Map (OSM) project. From May 2017, I am part of the University College of London (UCL). More analytically, I will do my PhD degree for the next three years. The PhD is named ”Future Intelligence Processing – Improving the Usability of Spatial Data” with a specific focus to defense data sets.
