I am an Open Data/Health Data/Research Data Professional interested in accelerating data science and advanced analytics for research though high-quality data and services delivered at scale. After a research career in the intersections of health, communication and technology and experiencing the enormous opportunities and challenges of data-intensive science and digital health, I moved into research data management with a specialisation in health and medical data. As a data professional I manage the development, implementation and evaluation of policies, processes, standards and infrastructures for research data. As part of this, I actively partner with our professional services, researchers and the wider data community to drive meaningful change in data quality, integrity, governance, sharing and reuse in order to accelerate data science and advanced analytics for research. I am an advocate for responsible data handling, and enabling trust, transparency and innovation in scientific practice though open, collaborative science and cross-sector engagement. I am particularly interested in artificial intelligence and data ethics in health. I also have a keen interest in research innovation and entrepreneurship, encouraged though my work with the SETsquared Partnership and participation in competitive innovation programmes including Researcher to Innovator (Innovate UK), Innovation and Commercialisation of University Research (Innovate UK), and Proximity to Discovery (MRC). I’m always exploring opportunities to innovate with high-quality data.
