Meeting title

BoF on RDA test bed efforts

Short introduction describing the activities and the scope of the group:

As discussed earlier within the Data Fabric IG and other places, members of the RDA community are heavily involved in testing and evaluating RDA outputs as part of diverse adoption or other activities. Following a discussion at the RDA chairs meeting in  Gothenburg in June 2017, it has been recognized also by TAB that these efforts need to be made more visible as they are of potential large value to the membership of RDA. A test bed is understood as a systematic effort to evaluate one or multiple RDA outputs against practically relevant use cases in a pilot environment. They may also already cross institutions or disciplines and might be open to third-party users, though these latter points are no requirements.

Until P10, a survey is conducted asking for details on existing test bed efforts. This BoF will be used to present the results of this survey, gather further input and get a better understanding of the scope, purpose and individual approach of test bed efforts. One intended outcome is to populate a prominent page on the RDA websites with the results of these discussions; this is seen as a starting point of a living document and all input is also welcome in the future.
