Indiana University Bloomington-Led Initiative Engages Early Career Data Scientists and Users

Bloomington, IN. – The Research Data Alliance / US is pleased to announce the winners of its 2014 Summer Interns Program. The Research Data Alliance (RDA) is an international organization that accelerates data-driven innovation and discovery by facilitating research data sharing and exchange. RDA/US focuses on amplifying RDA results in the United States and on growing U.S. engagement; it is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) grant to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and partners (award # 1349002).

The RDA/US Interns Program is part of the broader RDA/US Scholars Program, an initiative led by Professor Beth Plale at Indiana University Bloomington and member of the RDA/US Executive Steering Group to engage emerging data scientists and users to contribute to and use the products of RDA. The 2014 Summer Interns Program provides opportunities for the early career researchers to work on seven projects that are related to the work of RDA Working and Interest Groups. The projects cover a broad range of topics of high relevance to RDA communities, from data type registries and vocabularies to data practices in specific domains. The interns will be mentored by established RDA members.
