Travelling To The RDA's P20 In Gothenburg? All You Need To Know Is Here

 

Lindholmen Conference centre welcomes all 20th Plenary attendees between 20-24 March 2023!

We have collected the information on how to get to Gothenburg city and the RDA's 20th Plenary conference venue - Lindholmen Conference Centre. Whether you travel by air, boat, bus, or a car around Sweden is easy. Find details on how to get to and from places around Gothenburg below.

 

 

GETTING TO/FROM GOTHENBURG LANDVETTER AIRPORT

Göteborg Landvetter Airport is located about 25 kilometres east of central Gothenburg. It’s western Sweden’s international airport – and the second largest airport in the country. By bus

Flygbussarna Airport Coaches take you from the airport to Gothenburg City Centre in 35 minutes. There are usually 2-3 departures per hour and the route makes 4 stops in the city centre. You can pick up a handy leaflet at the airport with a map of all the stops. The bus does not take cash but takes major credit cards.

Flixbus and VY bus4you also operate between Göteborg Landvetter Airport and Gothenburg C.

By taxi or by car

Driving from Göteborg Landvetter Airport to central Gothenburg takes around 25 minutes, depending on traffic. Find out more about taxi prices and other info here.

LINDHOLMEN CONFERENCE VENUE: 

RDA P20 will take place at the Lindholmen Conference Centre is located on the north side waterfront of the Göta Canal in Gothenburg. The venue offers a highly technological environment and opens its doors to many local and international events throughout the year. The waterfront offers breathtaking architecture, cosy Swedish restaurants and cafes with traditional food. Lindholmen Science Park with Lindholmen Conference Centre situated at its centre is an internationally renowned Science Park in the fields of intelligent transport systems, mobile internet and media. 

The conference centre’s central location in Gothenburg means that it is only a 6 min bus ride from the central station and Landvetter airport 25 min. Älvsnabben ferry (free of charge) takes you over the river in 4 minutes into the city centre.

GETTING TO LINDHOLMEN

By direct bus

The best way to get to Lindholmen is by bus. Line 16 departs every three minutes during high traffic in the morning and in the evening. During the day, it departs every ten minutes. It takes 6-8 minutes from the Central Station (Nordstan) to Lindholmen. To get to Lindholmen Science Park you can also take one of the following buses: 23, 30, 31, 55, 99, 126, 165, 199, 402 and 510. There are three stops close to Lindholmen Science Park: Pumpgatan, Regnbågsgatan and Lindholmen. If you’re visiting the Lindholmen Conference Centre (Lindholmspiren 3-5), the closest stop is “Lindholmen”.

By free ferry

The ferry “Älvsnabbare” offers free rides and departs every ten minutes from Stenpiren and Lindholmspiren. The trip takes a couple of minutes and is available between 7am and 6pm. The stop “Lindholmspiren” is situated right in front of the Lindholmen Science Park area. There is also a pay ferry called “Älvsnabben” that runs between Stenpiren – Lundby Strand – Lindholmspiren – Slottsberget – Eriksberg – Klippan.

 

PARKING 

Parking next to Lindholmen Conference Centre is located outside the main building, Lindholmspiren 3-5. It costs 12 SEK per hour between 8am to 10pm, other hours 2 SEK per hour. Parking is also available, on the first and second floor, in the parking garage beside the main building.

Depending on which side of the Göta Canal in Gothenburg you stay, bothe venues can be easily reached on foot. To get to and from the venues from/to the Lindholmen side of the canal, we suggest you using a ferry line 286 Älvsnabbare between Lindholmspiren and Stenpiren (the receptions' venues). From Stenpiren, it is only a short walk along the quay. Älvsnabbare is free of charge. 

Keep in mind it might take up to 30 minutes one way to get to the venues due to a ferry waiting time.

Alternatively, please use a travel planner to check on regular buses and walk routes. 

 

GETTING TO THE RDA'S CONFERENCE DINNER AT KAJSKJUL 8 VENUE, (22 MARCH 2023, 19:15-22:30 CET)

Depending on which side of the Göta Canal in Gothenburg you stay, Kasjkjul 8 (the venue for the RDA P20 dinner) can be easily reached via public transport. 

To get to the venue from the Lindholmen side of the canal, we suggest you using a ferry line 286 Älvsnabbare between Lindholmspiren and Stenpiren (the dinner's venue). From Stenpiren, it is only a short walk to Kajskjul 8 along the quay. Älvsnabbare is free of charge. Please note that the ferry stops running at 19:00 CET. To get back from the venue to the Lindholmen side of the canal, we suggest you using a ferry line 285 Älvsnabben that runs from Stenpirenuntil back to Lindholmspiren until 23:30 CET.
