The RDA 25th Plenary Meeting is a core part of International Data Week 2025 (IDW2025), taking place in Brisbane, Australia, 13-16 October 2025.

International Data Week 2025 combines the RDA P25 and SciDataCon 2025, organised by the two data bodies of the International Science Council, CODATA and World Data System. The session application process for SciDatCon2025 is separate and can be viewed here.

RDA Groups and Bird’s of a Feather organisers are invited to apply. RDA Plenaries are working group meetings that bring together our unique community of diverse stakeholders, including data scientists, librarians, computer scientists, and researchers.

Please take into account the need for a well-thought-out agenda, a diverse line up of speakers, and time for discussion when applying.

Call for session overview

IDW2025 programme overview can be seen here
Fifty RDA sessions are available within IDW2025 programme
Sessions will be scheduled in a hybrid format
Each session is ninety-minutes
All programme sessions will be live streamed via an event platform
At least two group chairs or BoF organisers are strongly advised to facilitate a session
Session submissions are subject for approval
Approved sessions will be built into RDA P25 programme (which is part of IDW2025 programme)
Group chairs and presenters of accepted sessions will be required to register and pay registration fees to attend IDW2025

Pathways

Nine research data-related topics of interest, known as ‘pathways’, have been identified for P25. Pathways were created to help navigate the plenary programme by themes. Group session applicants will be asked to list up to three possible pathways that their session might (best) fit into.

No RDA breakout sessions will be held on Tuesday, 14th October 2025

Submission Process

The session submission forms have been recently updated. We we ask you to familiarise yourself with the new submission process:

Forms can be submitted by group chair(s) only.
You must be logged into the website to submit a form.
A session submission webpage will be automatically generated upon submission completion. It’ll be linked automatically to your group’s webpage and will be visible to all group members.
A submission is editable by any group chair. There are two ways to edit your submission: 1.) (fast): Log-in to www.rd-alliance.org > Navigate to My Profile > Plenary Participation > Session Entries > Open your session > Edit or 2.) Log-in to www.rd-alliance.org > Navigate to your group’s webpage > Plenaries > Open your session > Edit.
Approved sessions will be allocated to breakout times based on your indicated preferences where possible.

Which session form to submit?

Working, Interest Group and Community of Practice Sessions: the meeting format is typically interactive and informational, giving both group members and new RDA members an opportunity to learn about the groups’ objectives and progress to date and in achieving deliverables, while also collaborating to determine and implement next steps regarding adoption and other related activities. Learn more
Joint Meetings: these are meetings that combine multiple Working and/or Interest Groups to explore potential synergies, share findings and coordinate efforts.
Birds of a Feather: provide RDA members an opportunity to consider potential topics that could be recommended for the creation of new Working and/or Interest groups. Topics should be sufficiently distinct from the work of existing groups or BoFs held at recent plenaries. Learn more
