RDA Names Hilary Hanahoe as Secretary General

RDA announced today that longtime leader Hilary Hanahoe was selected as the organisation’s new Secretary General.

Hilary’s deep commitment for communicating innovation, marketing and digital strategies, and data infrastructure is widely recognized throughout RDA and the international data community. Her roles at RDA have included Coordinator of the RDA Europe Initiative, Communications Manager for the RDA global secretariat and lead for the initiative that resulted in the recognition of RDA recommendations as ICT technical specifications in Europe.

As Secretary General, Hilary will lead our global community as we work together to achieve our goal in accelerating data-driven innovation and discovery through the facilitation of research data sharing and exchange.

Hilary takes over from Ingrid Dillo, who has done a superb job as RDA Interim Secretary General over the last 7 months.  We thank Ingrid for her incredible leadership, contributions and commitment to RDA.  Ingrid and Hilary are currently working closely to create a smooth transition for the community.

Please join us in congratulating Hilary on her new role.  We look forward to working with her as she leads the RDA community into its next phase of growth and success and look forward to seeing all of you at Plenary 11 in Berlin.
